Books I’ve read recently
I’ve been reading more lately but there’s simply not enough time in the day. There’s so many really interesting books out there and nobody has time to read it. The following are a few I’ve read recently:
Endless Nights - Neil Gaiman
The dream catchers - Neil Gaiman
The “Matrix” Comics - Neil Gaiman ; Larry Wachowski ; Andy Wachowski ; Geof Darrow
Endless Nights is seven short stories written by Gaiman and illustrated by different artists such as: Craig Russel, Barron Storey, Milo Manara, Glenn Fabry and more. I enjoyed this comic book as Gaiman not only tells great stories but explores how each could affect human lives.
The Dream Catchers is more of short novel than a comic book, accompanied by the art of Yoshitaka Amano. A metaphorical tale of a Buddhist that falls in love with a fox. All three are recommended.
The 80/20 Principle - Richard Koch
“The 80/20 Principle - that 80% of results flow from just 20% of the causes - is the one true principle of highly effective people and organisations”
It’s all about concentrating on the right things. Great book, careful though, it might change how you perceive the world.
Fightclub - Chuck Palahniuk
You’ve probably seen the movie. The book is better, the allegorical finale that was not included in the movie is worth it alone.
48 Laws of Power, Concise edition - Robert Greene ; Joost Elffers
The short version of the handbook of power.
The Game - Neil Strauss
Neil Strauss went from average chump to master pick-up artist and got a hell of a story to write. There’s flocks of nerds dreaming, hoping and trying to become like him and make sweet love all night long. Not that Neil was much of a nerd, since he has already written some books such as “How To…Make Money Like A Porn Star” (hint: Jenna Jameson) and “The Dirt - Motley Crue: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band”.
Even if it may seem like a cheesy “have more sex” book, the pick-up artists in their quest for pussy, have managed to analyse quite precisely, many social aspects and human behaviour. Also check out a book by Neil’s mentor, Mystery’s “Venusian Arts Handbook”
Other nice books, that I haven’t read so recently:
The Anarchist Banker - Fernando Pessoa
The Art of Deception - Kevin D. Mitnick
Matchstick Men: A Novel of Petty Crimes - Eric Garcia
The Con Artist Handbook - Joel Levy
